Long Bio

Jaime Mears has been working in Theatre, Film and Television since 1999. 

Jaime graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art - NIDA in Sydney in 2002. After several years working professionally for the Sydney Theatre Company (STC) in various productions and in Australian TV Dramas All Saints and McLeods Daughters, Jaime was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship for excellence in the Performing Arts (as well as several other scholarships) to continue her studies in Europe and the USA. Between 2007-2012 Jaime completed two years at École Philipe Gaulier and subsequently attending workshops and intensives with companies, directors and teachers such as, Anne Bogart and the SITI Company (NY), Keith Johnstone (UK) and Complicité (UK).  

She has performed or collaborated with a variety of people including, Hugo Weaving, Robin Nevin, Andrew Upton, Justin Smith, Eamon Flack, Philippe Gaulier, Anne Bogart, Trygvy Wakenshaw, Amy Gwilliam, Yumi Fujitani and John Mowat.

As Co-Artistic Director of Teatro Rei Sem Roupa, Jaime writes, performs and devises theatrical experiences and productions for both her own company, based in Lisbon. She works for Operação Nariz Vermelho as a professional hospital Clown. She has also taught workshops for Hospital Clown Organisations in Lisbon, Moscow and Denmark. 

She has taught for several major theatre schools around Portugal  including ESMAE in Porto and In Impetus, ESTAL, ACT and Espaço EVOE in Lisbon where she also directs student productions. 

Jaime has also worked as a trainer for EGOR and Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon, holding trainings in Communications, Improvisation, Innovation and Team Building as well as a private coach for public speaking.

Jaime teaches internationally in Russia, UK, Hungary, Denmark, Germany, Australia holding workshops in Bouffon, Improvisation and Compositional Practice in Theatre.

She is currently working with companies Mente de Cão and Companhia Caótica as an actress and devisor and director. She is currently touring Duncan Macmillan’s - Every Brilliant Thing around Portugal and Europe.
